Israeli Paper Reports Israel-Syria "Peace Canal" Proposal on Water Issue

Although the bells of peace between Israel and Syria have only just started ringing again, new peace plans are already springing up throughout the Middle East, and are just waiting for the negotiating team to pluck them and offer them as a gift to the other side. One of these, which can be described as no less than grandiose, has recently been set before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee. The plan proposes consolidating, institutionalizing, and strengthening the peace agreement being worked out between Israel and Syria by means of a “peace canal,” an international project for conveying water from Turkey via Syria and the Golan Heights, which could provide a solution for a many of the water problems affecting Syria, Israel, Jordan, and the PNA.

Israel's space

I may well be the last person on the Judeosphere to be aware of this space.  I’m also not too sure how long it’s been around; I do know that it’s nice to find a “feel good” site dealing with Israel for a change!  Lots of visual resources, images, videos, etc.

World's Healthiest Countries - Forbes.com

Israel appeared at No. 12 on this Forbes list of the World’s 15 Healthiest Countries. It’s worth noting, however, that “due to incomplete data, we [Forbes] ranked only the 138 nations with statistics in every measure. That’s why you don’t see countries such as Monaco, Norway, Malta, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Ireland and Andorra—all of which had a shot of cracking the top 15 were they not missing information.”

The article had this to say about Israel:

Plagued by respiratory problems or concerned about clean air? Steer clear of Israel. It’s got one of the highest levels of air pollution of the countries on our list. You won’t be lacking vitamin D in this sunny country, however; it’s one of the world’s leaders in solar energy use. Also working for it: the list’s highest physician density rate, or 3.37 for every 1,000 people. Israel’s healthy life expectancy stood at 70 for males and 72 for females, average for the countries on our list.
